Most product work goes wrong in the same place: the build starts before anyone has watched a real person try to use the thing. By the time that gap shows up, it is expensive.
So we start earlier. A heuristic walkthrough of what already exists, documenting usability problems and bugs together. A heuristic review is only as good as the pattern library behind it, and ours comes from 19 years of building digital products. Then moderated user testing, designed, scripted, and run by us, with real participants, not a survey link.
On a recent engagement for a financial services start-up, we walked the full tool and documented what was broken, then wrote two separate test scripts: one for participants who had never seen the product, one for participants who had already been given the pitch deck. That split matters. The first group shows you whether the thing explains itself. The second shows you which of your assumptions only survive because you explained them out loud. Six moderated online sessions later, the client had a documented set of findings and a clear next step.
